Neuropsychological Assessment

A neuropsychological assessment can offer individuals and their providers assistance with diagnostic clarification of complex and multifactorial components, characterizing the extent of cognitive and functional changes, describing one’s cognitive profile (e.g., strengths and weaknesses), determining a baseline of functioning, and tracking of changes over time. We provide individualized treatment recommendations tailored to meet the unique & evolving needs of our patients and families.

The in-person portion of each assessment varies in time depending on several factors, including diagnostic questions and patient fatigue. Typically, we ask patients to reserve approximately 5 hours for each appointment, although not all appointments take the full amount of time.

Every evaluation includes a separate feedback session during which your neuropsychologist provides your assessment results, as well as your final report. A major focus of the feedback session at Brain Health Partners is providing individualized recommendations to each patient and family related to their specific needs. Topics often include discussion of possible lifestyle changes, implementing accommodations, maximizing quality of life, and supportive services for all parties. We encourage patients to invite family and other trusted individuals to this appointment. Feedback sessions are typically held within two weeks of the in-person appointment.

psychotherapy, caregiver support, and education

Often individuals and families are left with a “what now?” feeling after receiving a diagnosis. Patients and families may elect to engage in ongoing supportive and psychoeducational services with Brain Health Partners. Each patient’s and family’s needs are unique, and often include issues related to grief and loss, techniques for caregiving (e.g., managing changing behaviors, level-of-care recommendations), and strategies to maximize quality of life. The needs of individuals and families evolve with disease progression, as well as recovery, and we provide supportive and educational services to meet these changing needs.

Although we feel that we can best serve our patients and families by conducting a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment first, we also provide psychotherapy, including caregiver supportive services, to individuals and families if a provider other than Brain Health Partners completed a recent neuropsychological evaluation.

fees

Please contact us for our current fees. To protect the privacy of our patients and to deliver the highest level of care, we do not contract with any insurance companies at this time. As a "fee for service" practice, patients are responsible for full payment of fees at time of service. We provide a super bill for services, which allows some patients to obtain out-of-network reimbursement. Many plans, such as PPO plans, still reimburse for care with out-of-network providers, just at a lower rate than with in-network providers. It is recommended that you check your “out-of-network” benefits if you plan to submit payment receipts to your medical insurer.
